The test

Candidates who meet the criteria below will be invited to appear before the jury for a 20-minute oral test to assess the candidate’s study and observation portfolio and any sculpture treatments.

Entry requirements

Qualifications

Candidates can enter the Art course with the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage option and Sculpted Works option (DNA and DNSEP) in the second and third years. To do so, they must:

• hold a French Licence in Préservation des biens culturels (LPBC) [or an equivalent Bachelor’s degree in Preservation of Cultural Heritage];
• demonstrate at least two years of validated studies (120 ECTS credits) in the field of conservation and restoration of cultural heritage at a higher education institution under the authority of the French Ministry for National Education or Higher Education and Research.

Candidates from a French or international school not approved by the French Ministry of Culture must justify at least two years of studies in the field of conservation and restoration of cultural heritage and the obtention of 120 ECTS credits.

International candidates

Non-French-speaking international candidates must have sufficient French language skills to be able to read and communicate. They must also attest to having at least level B2 at the TCF (French language test) or the DELF (Diplôme d'études en langue française) – see www.ciep.fr/tcf for more details – and provide a copy of their qualifications with a certified translation if necessary.

French candidates not resident in mainland France

It is not possible to sit the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage committee remotely.

Admin fees

Candidates are required to pay a €50 non-refundable admin fee before sitting the committee. This amount is set annually by the TALM Executive Board.
